The district's Pupil
Personnel department works closely with schools to help remove
barriers that may be preventing children from attending school.
It is the goal of the department to have every student in school,
every day. The Pupil Personnel department also keeps
student records at the district level.
For enrollment or records information, please contact your
child's assigned school or the Pupil Personnel department at
(606)546-3157, ext. 2007.
Absences and Excuses
Students are required to attend regularly and punctually the school
in which they are enrolled. A student who is absent less than
35 percent of the regularly scheduled school day will be counted as
tardy. A student will be counted absent half of a day if
absent 35 to 84 percent of the day. A student will be counted
absent a full day if absent for more than 84 percent of the
regularly scheduled school day.
A listing of excused absences is found in the student handbook on
page 39.
Parent/guardians are required to notify the school by phone of the
student's reason for absence. Written verification for all
full day or partial day absences is required within three (3) days
upon the student's return to school.
Homebound Services
If a child is too ill to attend school and may be absent from school
for an extended period of time, the student may be eligible for
homebound services. A student who is approved for homebound services
is visited by a homebound teacher at his/her home and will receive
instruction until the student is able to attend school regularly. A
homebound application must be completed by an appropriate doctor,
submitted to the central office, and approved by the district. |
